ll The Denver Broncos surprised everyone on draft night when they moved back into the first round to select Florida quarterback Tim Tebow with the 25th pick. Most scouts and draft pundits expected Tebow to be selected in the second round of the draft, but the Broncos obviously wanted to ensure that they landed the former Gator. Tebow was one of the best collegiate football players in the history of the game and is one of the most popular athletes in the country. He's been heavily praised for his character and leadership, but a lot of people worry about his ability to makfit into the plans of the franchise is still a mystery. Denver is a great situation for Tebow, though. They've already got a starting quarterback in Kyle Orton, so there will be no pressure for Tebow to start from day one. The team also has a very creative, offensive-minded coach in Josh McDaniels.
One of the cheap nfl jerseys
big knocks on Tebow is that he played almost exclusively out of the shotgun throughout his career at Florida, but, if you'll remember, Tom Brady took the bulk of the snaps in McDaniels' offense out of the gun during the Patriots' record-setting 2007 season, when McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in New England. McDaniels is precisely the kind of coach that could find a way for Tebow to succeed and I would not be remotely surprised to see him work Tebow into the offense right away, in limited packages.
This draft pick could be a defining one in the history of the Denver Broncos. It could signal the start of the Tim Tebow era in Denver, a story of great success as a great athlete silences all of his doubters, but it could also be viewed as a colossal mistake that sealed McDaniels' fate. In the short-term, however, it does create some uncertainty at the quarterback position. How eager are the Broncos to get Tebow onto the field and, perhaps more importantly, how eager are they to get him onto the practice field?
The Broncos traded for former first-round pick Brady Quinn earlier this offseason and conventional wisdom surrounding the move was that Quinn would be viewed as the quarterback of the near-future. Current starter Kyle Orton is entering the final year of his contract and most people don't see him as a long-term option in Denver. The thought was that Orton would begin the season as the starting signal caller and would eventually be supplanted by Quinn, either sometime during the 2010 campaign or the following offseason. With Tebow now on board, those plans probably will change.
The reality is that Tebow is more important to the team than Quinn, if only because they just spent a first-round pick on him. This means that the team has a lot invested in Tebow's development. For him to develop, however, he has to get reps in practice. The third-string quarterback does not see many reps in practice, so putting Tebow at the bottom of the QB depth chart will do them little good. Making Quinn third string probably wouldn't go over s long-term. Tebow is essentially a lock to become a fan favorite, as his jersey was the highest-selling jersey in the entire league in the week following the NFL Draft, but whether or not he produces on the field remains to be seen. I think he's in a great situation to succeed and you know he's going to do everything in his power to be the best player he can be. Maybe I'm simply drinking the Kool-Aid, but I think it's going to work out well.
o well with someone you just told they'd have a chance to compete for the starting gig. From what I can tell, I think it's completely possible that Quinn is released or traded. There are plenty of teams out there that would give Quinn an opportunity to compete for a starting job.
The selection of Tim Tebow should have significant implications for the Denver Broncos organizatio Eagles jerseys
